Linda Madeksho has been involved in career para-church ministry for almost 40 years. Much of that work was in the field of social justice and crisis intervention pioneering where she counseled individuals, organizations and facilitated groups in both the secular and religious communities. She has worked primarily in Texas and southern Africa.
During that time, she found that many who have been in the church family for years, whether staff, lay leader or congregant, often reach a point in their spiritual journey where they feel unfulfilled. They may not be in crisis but find they are seeking something that seems just out of reach. Traditional Christian counseling, discipleship programs, Bible studies or life coaching do not seem to be the answer.
Linda retired from full-time ministry in 2012 and began her own personal journey toward spiritual transformation through various disciplines available in the field. She believes that this formation journey has been the most rewarding adventure she has been on in her long and varied career whether in the local, national or in the international community. She states that it is second only to accepting Jesus as her Savior.
Challenged by her own experience and desire, she embraced various disciplines available in the area of spiritual transformation. To this end, she has added the following certifications in spiritual direction to her long list of social work and organizational training and certifications (a detailed resume may be requested by email):
- Certificate of Spiritual Formation, Transforming Center, Wheaton, Illinois;
- Certificate of Spiritual Direction, Years 1 & 2, Sustainable Faith;
- Certificate of Spiritual Direction Supervision, Sustainable Faith;
- Certified Instructor, iEnneagram, Motions of the Soul, Crossroads Church and Ministry, Marshall, Michigan;
- Listen to My Life Facilitator, One Life Maps, Bartlett, Illinois.
Her heart’s desire is to help others understand how God brings the extraordinary to their ordinary daily life. Individual direction with her will be spent in the presence of the Holy Spirit to look, listen, discern and move closer to the heart of God and the intentionality of his design for the individual.
This is not a quick process but is a component of a long obedience in the same direction. The majority of the time in any session will be spent in quiet listening for the Lord through the experience of prayer, scripture meditation and conversation regarding an individual’s journey with Jesus.
